6th Sense Health and Wellness Center was recently recognized by the Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity as the Community Impact Champion and as such becomes an affiliate of the center.

The Center which is headquartered in the Wake Forest School of Medicine created this initiative with hopes will promote engagement between the Center and the community and spotlight Community Impact Champions, who encourage all of us to reach a little further and take action.

According to Director of Community Outreach, Partnerships, and Patient Care for the Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity, David L Mount, PsyD “The partnership will further our efforts toward implementing mind-body health programs across the Triad with the ultimate goal of achieving integrated health equity”.

Nike Roach, MS, president, and chief wellness officer of 6th Sense Health and Wellness Center states “it’s a great honor to be associated with such a dynamic national center and we hope that our efforts will assist the Angelou center to increase the understanding, appreciation and utilization of complementary and alternative medicine for health disparities ”.

This is echoed by Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Hampton University School of Pharmacy, Marya L. Shegog, PhD, MPH, “Mr. Nike Roach has diligently worked to address, reduce and eliminate health disparities through utilizing a holistic approach.

“As a citizen of the world Mr. Roach has constantly brought novel approaches and ideas to create health equity through awareness, education and integrative treatment. I have no doubt as a Community Champion in partnership with the Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity his unique perspective and approach to wellness will become globally recognized and utilized as a key to eradicating health inequities”, states Dr Shegog.
